Deutz – Extra Brut
Composition of the blend
The "Extra Brut" cuvée is a fine multi-vintage champagne and the blend is the one of the straight (and most sought-after) “Deutz Brut Classic” but with a different dosage.
The key to the style of the Deutz Brut Classic derives from :
- a perfect balance between the three components : Pinot Noir 1/3 – Pinot Meunier 1/3 – Chardonnay 1/3
- the use of top-quality fruit : the vast majority originates from either “Grands Crus” or “Premiers Crus”. Equally important is the fact that the company seldom allows other juice than “first pressings" to be part of its cuvees.
- The “reserve wines” (top quality “vins clairs” from previous years) account for 20%. The “reserve wines” guarantee a perfect consistency year after year and also add complexity to the wine.
- the low dosage (three grams of sugar per litre) which brings to the "Extra Brut" a chalky, minerally connotation, giving the wine a superb sense of freshness and liveliness.
